Local shopping in ClaytonThe Federal Government is delivering real, practical support to help where it's needed most and taking steps to ease pressure on households.

Families on the Family Tax Benefit received a boost to their payment.

The Schoolkids Bonus provides $410 for each child at primary school and $820 for each child at secondary school every year.

The tax-free threshold has been trebled to $18,200. This means everyone earning under $80,000 will get a tax cut, and people with taxable income less than $18,200 won't have to file a tax return or paying income tax.

The superannuation guarantee for workers will be increased progressively from 9 per cent to 12 per cent, delivering more savings for retirement.

Eligible working parents can receive up to 18 weeks Paid Parental Leave.

And the Child Care Rebate has been increased to 50% of costs (or $7,500).

The Federal Government is also be providing increased assistance to pensioners and more support for to retirees. As well as reforming Aged Care to ensure older Australians have more choice and higher quality care.

Plus the Dental Health Package will ensure people who are least able to afford to go the dentist, particularly children, have access to government-subsidised dental care.
